Russian drone strikes Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences building in Kyiv
On 28 September 2026, a Russian drone struck the National Academy of Sciences building in Kyiv, Ukraine, setting the building alight. One person was killed and three others were injured in the attack. These editorial photographs, from the Ukrinform collection, show the building engulfed in flames, rescuers working to extinguish the fire from the ground and from an aerial work platform, and water being poured on burning cars alongside the building. Further frames show two men attempting to escape from the building, a law enforcer accompanying an injured man, and medics and bystanders helping an injured person.
