akg-images is an editorial photo archive combining contemporary reportage with historical photography. Its coverage spans portraits of actors and other public figures at film and cultural events, political photography including party spokespeople, press conferences and the aftermath of elections, and documentary views of towns and cities, from railway stations and street infrastructure to religious buildings and rural architecture. The archive is particularly strong in German-speaking Europe and Central and Eastern Europe, with historical material documenting rural life, agriculture, famine and social upheaval in the former Soviet region during the early twentieth century.
