United Archives photos

United Archives is an editorial photo archive documenting political, public and sporting life across the second half of the twentieth century, with particular depth in Germany and wider Europe. Its holdings centre on heads of state and government, ministers, diplomats and party figures photographed at summits, state visits, press conferences, parliamentary occasions and commemorative ceremonies, alongside portraits of business leaders, broadcasters and other public figures in offices and at official engagements. International coverage extends to statesmen from Africa, the Caribbean and international organisations, reflecting the diplomatic exchanges of the period. Sport is also represented, including German football matches and portraits of well-known players. Picture editors and publishers use material of this kind for obituaries and anniversary features, historical and political reporting, books, documentaries, exhibitions and educational publishing where dated, identifiable images of past decades are needed.
